Tom and Christie first met through mutual friends in December 2019 on a ski trip at Okemo Mountain. Tom planned the trip with friends from his hometown of Glastonbury, CT and Christie was brought along on the trip by her roommate Jesse who grew up alongside the same crew in Glastonbury. It was a memorable weekend that became all about merging groups of friends and affectionately became known as "Red Bridge."

From then on, Tom and Christie were part of this new friend group and there were many more fun trips planned over the next few years. They went skiing in Lake Tahoe and spent many weekends on the WindByrne sailing from Mystic to Block Island, becoming good friends in the process.

It was on one of those annual sailing trips in the summer of 2023 that Tom and Christie finally figured out what all of their friends had been "subtly" hinting at for about four years... they were perfect for each other! By the end of summer they had started visiting each other in Boston and New York City and soon there was rarely a weekend that went by where they didn't see each other.

After about two years of dating long-distance and many more fun trips with friends to Vermont, Denver and even Italy, Tom decided enough was enough and started looking for jobs in New York. He and Christie found an apartment together in Brooklyn in the summer of 2025. Almost immediately after moving, he realized if he was willing to leave Boston for this girl, she must be the one. A couple of months later, they were spending a weekend exploring the vineyards in the North Fork of Long Island, where Tom got down on one knee and Christie immediately agreed to marry him!
